Fashion Show Supports Local Women’s Shelter

Healing Broken Vessels, a nonprofit organization based in Lebanon, held its A Season of Elegance Fashion Show on Saturday afternoon.

More than 35 people modeled nearly 70 outfits provided by Bloem Kind Boutique, also in Lebanon. The event kicked off with a praise and worship performance by four young girls known as Angels in the Garden.

There was also a special dedication to Helen Catron, who was a grant writer for Healing Broken Vessels.

Diantha McLeod, founder and director of Healing Broken Vessels, was happy of the turnout and support from the community.

“We are a non-profit 501c3 organization, and we help women in Wilson County,” McLeod said. “We equip, empower them and encourage them by offering classes such as basic computer skills and Microsoft Office. We also involve everyone in the community to come and teach women different courses on things like how to buy a house, budgeting their money, how to set goals and anything that would empower women to help them and would allow them to improve their lives.”

The women come to Healing Broke Vessels through “various ways. Sometimes, we get referrals from other organizations within the community. But it’s usually by word of mouth. We have a Facebook page and a website, and we are really trying to let people know we are here within the community,” McLeod said.

The fashion show benefitted the Grace Project, a five-week program that includes computer skills.

“We also have career assessments We also involve the community as much as possible with some of the curriculum that we have. Upon completion, we give a piece of clothing to the participants to help them with their job search,” McLeod said.

“We are here in this community, and we will make an impact and a difference not only in the lives of women, but also in the whole community.”

Healing Broken Vessels is at 311 S. College St. in Lebanon. For more information, visit Healing Broken Vessels on Facebook. The organization’s website is at https://www.healingbrokenvessels.org.
